Frequently Asked Questions
How is GST calculated on a base amount? +
GST Amount = Base Amount × GST Rate ÷ 100. For Rs.10,000 at 18%: GST = Rs.1,800, total payable = Rs.11,800. For intra-state: CGST = SGST = 9% each. For inter-state: IGST = 18%.
How do I remove GST from an inclusive price? +
Base Price = GST-Inclusive Amount ÷ (1 + GST Rate/100). If you paid Rs.11,800 inclusive of 18% GST: Base = 11800 ÷ 1.18 = Rs.10,000. GST = Rs.1,800. Use the Remove GST mode above.
What is the difference between CGST, SGST and IGST? +
CGST & SGST are charged on intra-state transactions — the GST rate is split equally between Centre and State. If rate is 18%, CGST = 9% + SGST = 9%. IGST is charged on inter-state transactions at the full rate (18%) and goes entirely to the Centre, which settles with states.
