Frequently Asked Questions

Indian citizens aged 18 and above working in one of 18 traditional trades (Carpenter, Blacksmith, Potter, Tailor, Goldsmith, Barber, and others) as self-employed or family business are eligible. Government employees, those whose family member is already enrolled, and persons under age 18 are NOT eligible. Only one member per family can enrol.
Eligible artisans can avail a Tier 1 collateral-free loan of Rs. 1,00,000 at 5% concessional interest repayable over 18 months. After successful repayment, a Tier 2 loan of Rs. 2,00,000 is available at the same 5% rate. The government subsidises the difference from market interest rates.
The PM Vishwakarma scheme offers credit at a concessional rate of 5% per annum — significantly lower than the typical market rate of 12-18% for small business loans. The government subsidises the remaining interest cost through the scheme, making it one of the cheapest credit options for traditional artisans.
Visit pmvishwakarma.gov.in or go to your nearest CSC (Common Service Centre). You will need your Aadhaar card, Aadhaar-linked bank account details, Aadhaar-linked mobile number, and a passport photo. Registration is completely free. After verification you receive a PM Vishwakarma Certificate and ID Card.
Eligible artisans receive a toolkit incentive of Rs. 15,000 as an e-voucher. This voucher can be used to purchase trade-specific tools from empanelled vendors. It is provided after skill verification and basic training completion.
If you have availed a PMEGP, PM SVANidhi, or Mudra loan in the last 5 years, you may not be immediately eligible for the Tier 1 loan component under PM Vishwakarma. However, you may still be eligible for training and toolkit benefits. Check with your nearest CSC centre for the latest guidelines.
